NCE was established in 2015 by a group of experienced Nottinghamshire-based professionals with the assistance of Mongoose Energy (now Bright Renewables). NCE team is a group of dedicated and committed people passionate about sustainability and community renewables.

Our multi-disciplinary team have experience in finance, corporate governance, fund raising, community engagement, renewable energy project development and project management. All staff enthusiastically share a common goal: taking local energy national.

  • Phil Angus, NCE Board Member

    Phil Angus - Chairman

    In 2006 Phil was appointed Manager of Nottingham Energy Partnership (NEP), a fuel poverty and climate change charity, and before that was the Energy Strategy Coordinator for Nottingham City Council. Since joining NEP Phil has steered the organisation from a small three staffed operation to one that delivers multi-million pound projects with a team of 20 staff. NEP has directly helped over 25,000 households with energy efficiency measures through its projects, helping to reduce energy bills and save CO2. In 2014 NEP was awarded the Queen’s Award for its contribution to Sustainability.

    Phil is also a Director of MOZES (Meadows Ozone Energy Services), a community energy company, and was until recently the Chair of the Embankment Social Enterprise.

  • Miranda Cumberbatch, NCE Board Member

    Miranda Cumberbatch

    Miranda is Acting CEO at charity Nottingham Energy Partnership – through successful commercial bids, and partnerships she has secured more than £20 million of investment for Nottinghamshire.

    In 2008 Miranda was appointed as Affordable Warmth Programme Manager and since then has enjoyed working at the forefront of community regeneration and domestic energy efficiency in the private sector.

    Achievements include the successive delivery of domestic energy policy through a range of projects over the last 20 years and the installation of key energy saving measures for more than 20,000 households across Nottinghamshire.

  • John Lancaster, NCE Board Member

    John Lancaster

    John has 20+ years’ project management experience in the renewable energy sector, working variously as an energy consultant, net-zero public sector advisor, and developer of solar, wind and hydro generation projects. He is experienced at developing projects from initial site selection stage through to feasibility, planning and construction.

    In recent years John has specialised in community energy, establishing several Community Benefit Societies. John set up Nottinghamshire Community Energy and, as a founding director, he ran the initial share offer and oversaw the transition of our Langar Lane solar farm from a new build commercial project to a community owned one.

  • David Hallett, NCE Board Member

    David Hallett

    David is a qualified Barrister and Chartered Accountant. He specialised in taxation and in advising businesses on wider commercial issues. He practised in this field, in London and Nottingham, for 30 years, before retiring 15 years ago. Since then he has been very engaged with the voluntary sector.

    He is on the Board of 3 local charities, as well as MOZES (a local Social Enterprise company), he is Treasurer of the Meadows Partnership Trust and provides advice on accounting and business issues and on governance to several others. David lives in an Eco house in the Meadows area of Nottingham.

  • Kevin Hard, NCE Board Member

    Kevin Hard

    Kevin Hard is a multi award winning entrepreneur and developer. He is Managing Director of sustainable property developer Stagfield. Previously Kevin was Director and founder of EvoEnergy. From inception in 2007 to a circa £30 Million pound business, he built EvoEnergy to be a market leading rooftop Solar Photovoltaic business which has installed Solar on over 8,000 homes and hundreds of commercial rooftops.

    With a passion for property, sustainability and clean-tech, Kevin has led and founded companies that have helped homeowners and businesses to create exceptional buildings, make their own power, save energy and improve lives.
